Questions to ask before hiring a design firm

1. Are you stylin'?
Is their design work fresh, enticing? Take a look at their featured projects, are they current? Also explore their Press or News pages, have they won awards recently or been recognized in their industry?

2. Are you open to change?
Look for innovation and a readiness to explore multiple avenues to reach your audience. How broad have their previous projects been? Have they used non-conventional methods or embraced digital solutions?

3. Do I have a direct contact for the project?
You should always have a point of contact for the process. Will you be working with the initial consultant, a project manager, the designers themselves? Knowing who to call when you need changes or updates, etc. will help prevent miscommunication and ensure everyone is on the same page.

4. Is that mine?
One of the most important yet most basic things to know when you hire a designer: who owns the original artwork? You do! Legal standard requires a designer to proved full ownership of all files created for you following completed payment.
